Currents and Crossings
2025 Resonance Residency, Coswig(Anhalt)/Berlin, DE
Live performance, audio-visual work
Currents and Crossings is an experimental sound project that explores how water connects people and landscapes, both hor- izontally across space and vertically through time. The project consists of an audio-visual work and a live performance.
The audio-visual piece was presented at the Open Studio event on June 15, 2025 during the residency. It combines field record- ings and video materials from the Elbe River and its natural surroundings. The visuals respond to the sounds, bringing the audience into an immersive and mysterious soundwalk through nature.
Finally, a composition was performed on June 20 at PAS Berlinas the summary of the project. Using field recordings and elec-tronic synthesis, the piece wove together voices from the Elbe River, the landscapes around Coswig, and coastal sounds from Taiwan recorded in the past. The performance embodied water as a metaphor for travel, with the performer physically activating fragments of the piece on five recorders, such as Zoom, placed around the audience and used as sample play- ers. This staging gave the work a theatrical feature and traced a journey of how water cur- rents move across bodies and places. It mirrored the artist’s process of exploration and the relational nature of sound. Finally, a composition was performed on June 20 at PAS Berlinas the summary of the project.
